A New Look at Consumer Trust in 2025

Financial confidence didn’t just dip in the second half of 2025, it slid fast. With a government shutdown, rising uncertainty, and shifting digital habits, consumers are rethinking who they trust and where they engage with financial offers.

 

To understand what’s really going on, Union Credit surveyed consumers during October and November, capturing insights from both government and non government employees. The findings reveal a clear pattern: people feel less secure, less confident, and far more dependent on trusted digital spaces when making financial decisions.

 

If credit unions want to rebuild confidence in 2026, the path is right in front of them. Lower the friction. Show up where consumers already feel safe. And adapt to the decision making behavior people are actually using now, not the one they used to have.
